2008 / 2009 School Year
Math and Science Transfer, Excellence & Retention (MASTER) Scholarship Program
Thanks to a National Science Foundation (NSF) grant, students demonstrating financial need who are interested in majoring in the sciences, engineering, or mathematics can now become involved in an exciting new scholarship program, the NSF-funded Mathematics and Science Transfer Excellence and Retention (MASTER) scholarship at Glendale Community College, starting in 2007–2008. Up to 70 qualified students per year will be supported in this scholarship program.
Students who are accepted into this program are not only guaranteed transfer assistance to a four-year university with transfer application fees paid, but are also given a five week summer bridge/academic enrichment program, for which they will receive a stipend and a top-of-the-line graphing calculator. Scholarship recipients will also receive approximately $1500 per year if they maintain a 2.5 grade point average and continue progressing in their major. They are assigned a caring professor/mentor to help them with any problems they may encounter during their stay at Glendale College. While in the MASTER scholarship program, students are also able to attend special MASTER Supplemental Instruction (SI) classes to give them additional help with their science, engineering, and math classes.
Students will also have a special MASTER counselor, priority registration and assistance with the development of a student education plan. MASTER scholars will automatically become members of the award-winning MASTER Math Club. Where possible, students can also join the GCC Science Academy.

TENTANG PPSDMS NURUL FIKRI
PPSDMS NF adalah lembaga di bawah naungan Yayasan Bina Nurul Fikri yang bergerak di bidang pengembangan sumber daya manusia Indonesia, khususnya pengembangan kader-kader masa depan pemimpin bangsa (future nation leaders).
Sebagai School of Future Nation Leaders, Visi PPSDMS NF adalah:
Melahirkan pemimpin-pemimpin masa depan yang memiliki pemahaman Islam yang komprehensif, integritas dan kredibilitas yang tinggi, berkepribadian amtang, moderat, serta peduli terhadap kehidupan bangsa dan Negara.
Untuk itu, PPSDMS mengemban Misi sebagai berikut:
- Melatih dan mengembangkan mahasiswa terbaik sebagai kader-kader pemimpin bangsa.
- Melakukan pengembangan institusi PPSDMS di berbagai daerah di Indonesia.
- Menaburkan dan menebarkan alumni PPSDMS ke tengah-tengah masyarakat sebagai pemimpin-pemimpin yang tangguh.
- Mempersiapkan alumni PPSDMS untuk berperan di instansi, lembaga, ataupun institusi strategis, demi kempentingan bangsa dan negara.
PPSDMS bersifat non-partisan, non-profit, terbuka, profesional, dan kebersamaan. Untuk itu, semua kegiatan PPSDMS disampaikan kepada publik secara terbuka dan bertanggungjawab, dan seluruh hasil kegiatannya dipersembahkan untuk kepentingan bangsa dan negara.
Saat ini PPSDMS sudah memiliki 5 regional di 5 kota besar Indonesia (Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, dan Bogor), yang meliputi 7 PTN terkemuka, yaitu UI, ITB, Unpad, UGM, ITS, Unair, dan IPB.

Bachelor of Science in Textile Engineering
Call for Applications for the 2008/2009 Academic Year
The project offers international students the possibility to receive a scholarship and other benefits to graduate from the Politecnico di Torino attending a Bachelor of Science (BS) course in Textile Engineering at the Biella campus.
The initiative is promoted by the Politecnico di Torino and is supported by Unione Industriale Biellese, which coordinates the scholarships sponsored by Italian textile companies and associations.

The European College of Liberal Arts (ECLA) offers a one-year undergraduate program in the humanities.The academic year runs for nine months from early October to late June and is divided into three ten-week terms: Autumn, Winter and Spring.The Academy Year program is an introduction to the theory and practice of interdisciplinary learning.
A core curriculum in philosophy, history, literature, political theory and the visual arts is team-taught by faculty with background in these disciplines.
The core course uses a lecture/seminar/tutorial format, and students learn through discussion in small groups, writing assignments and one-to-one tutorials.
The core course begins with the classic texts of ancient Greece and has a loosely chronological structure through the three terms, with particular focus on selected historical periods.
Key authors who feature in the course include Aristotle, Dante, Descartes, Dostoyevsky, Homer, Hume, Kafka, Kant, Kierkegaard, Machiavelli, Montaigne, Nietzsche, Pascal, Plato and Shakespeare.
Elective courses in a range of disciplines including art history, film theory, literary theory, music and performance art complement the core curriculum.

Fujitsu and the Northern Territory Government have entered into an agreement to provide Mainframe Applications services to Government agencies. As part of this agreement, Fujitsu has made industry development commitments to the Government to assist in developing and enhancing the capability of local business and industry in the Northern Territory, in particular the local information technology industry.
A key industry development commitment is for Fujitsu to implement a scholarship program which focuses on indigenous employment and provides opportunities for Territorians in regional and remote areas. Fujitsu has therefore established, through Charles Darwin University Foundation, the “Fujitsu IT Scholarships in Information Technology” program to encourage student participation at Charles Darwin University (CDU) and in the Territory workforce.
Two Fujitsu IT Scholarships to the value of $3,000 a year for up to three years subject to satisfactory academic progress, ie have not failed a unit and have achieved a credit average in each semester of enrolment while receiving the scholarship.
If Fujitsu wishes to offer the recipient paid work placements in semester breaks a temporary contract will be offered directly to the recipient by Fujitsu.

The Fujitsu Asia Pacific Scholarship (Fujitsu Scholarship) Program, sponsored by Fujitsu Limited, provides financial assistance for postgraduate education and cross-cultural management training to participants from the Asia-Pacific region. Fujitsu Limited, an international leader in information technology, telecommunications, semiconductors and electronics that is headquartered in Tokyo, established the Fujitsu Scholarship to commemorate its 50th anniversary in 1985.
The Fujitsu Scholarship program is available for academic programs at JAIMS. JAIMS, located in Honolulu, Hawaii, is a nonprofit postgraduate institute established by Fujitsu in 1972. Many Fujitsu Scholarship recipients/graduates are now working for corporate and social-service organizations in their home countries as well as in other nations.
The Fujitsu Scholarship is available for the EWKLP.
The East-West Knowledge Leaders Program (EWKLP), a three-month curriculum, is a synthesis of best practice of the East and West. It is intended to sharpen one’s global management knowledge and skills, and build confidence for global business situations.
